Plagiarism is taking credit for the work of another author. You know how much work writing requires, how would you feel if another student handed in your original story with his or her name on your writing? Writers need to tell their readers the sources of their information. This lets your readers go to the original source if they would like to read more about the information included in your writing.
Questions to ask yourself:
- Is copying and pasting from the internet okay?
- Is it okay to read information from the internet and use your new knowledge in your paper?
Plagiarism also has consequences. Not only are you cheating by stealing the hard work of another author, but you are also putting your grades at risk by copying. WMS school policy is clear about plagiarism. Students receive a grade of zero points on assignments that contain plagiarism.
