About Mrs. Kieffer
I am the 6th grade Language Arts and Reading teacher at WMS. I have worked with District 52 students since 2004 and truly enjoy learning with my students.
In 2010, I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Reading from Bradley University. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D in English Studies with a concentration in English Education at Illinois State University.
I presented my research on The Effects of Sustained Silent Reading at the Literacy Research Association conference in 2011. My research interests include writing in response to reading and independent reading.
Even though I am often quite busy, I have many interests. I enjoy reading by the pool or at the beach, and I actually prefer a warmer climate than found in Illinois. My husband and I love to travel and always have a trip planned for the small windows of time in between university and school schedules. My favorite trip took us to Japan, and I am looking forward to a Mediterranean cruise if I can ever find a time to fit our schedules. Our two dogs, Woof and Roo Bee, are my best buddies. There’s nothing better than coming home to wagging tails.
